What level do you need to get soccer scholarships in the United States? The higher the soccer level a candidate has, the greater the interest of American coaches and the greater the amount of soccer scholarships in the USA. It is for this reason that the sporting level in which you currently compete, and the results obtained during previous years are very relevant when it comes to obtaining soccer scholarships.
How many universities offer soccer scholarships in the United States? There are more than 1,500 universities with soccer teams and the vast majority offer sports scholarships. The main group, the NCAA, has more than 1,000 universities, distributed among its divisions.
Without a doubt, you must be at a high competitive level. Also, you must have graduated from high school, taken the SATs and TOEFL exams. You must also comply with the rules of the American university leagues.
The minimum GPA required to be eligible and to be able to compete your first year, is a 2.3 GPA. This is the equivalent in Spain to approximately 6 of the final grade obtained in high school. If a student gets between a 2.0 and 2.3 GPA at the end of high school, the NCAA will declare them ineligible and can only receive a scholarship and train, however they will not be able to compete the first year.
